Download EndNote to your computer

As a student or MDU employee, you can download and use EndNote free of charge. 

Instructions:

1. If you are a student: Go to the page Software for downloading Please note: To access the page, you must log in with your student email/MDU account. 
   If you are a MDU employee: Download EndNote from the Software Center on your MDU computer.
2. Select EndNote 21 from the applications. 
3. Click on "Mac EndNote 21" or "Win EndNote 21" depending on the type of computer you have.  Please note! extract the files before installation on a PC 
4. Start the installation 
5. Accept the user agreements that pop up and click through all the installation steps. (It is possible to leave all the options/questions that appear with a check on their default values) 
6. Finish the installation and start EndNote 

EndNote and Word 

When you have downloaded EndNote 20 to your computer, the Cite While You Write plug-in will also be included. In the Word document the EndNote 20 tab will appear. You may need to restart your computer for it to be visible. 

Create an EndNote online account 

EndNote online is a free web-based version of EndNote. You can use the application through a web browser, unlike EndNote, which is bound to a specific computer. 

EndNote online lacks some of the features found in EndNote. The advantage of using EndNote online is that you can use it from any computer you like.  

If you have installed Endnote desktop, you can create an Endnote online account from the programme, select Help > Endnote online. Follow the steps to register. 

Connect EndNote desktop with EndNote online (sync)

You can use both EndNote and EndNote online, then you can combine your different references by syncing your libraries. Connect your desktop with Endnote online by selecting Library > Sync
