Academic reading

University studies include reading a lot of text. However, an academic text can be somewhat daunting. It often has an austere layout, it is often strictly structured and the usage of the language is precise in order not to leave any room for misinterpretation.

Still, as a student of higher education your assignment is to penetrate and interpret these texts in a way so that they will give you value and help you to qualify academically.

The thing is not to start reading from the beginning to the end. Instead, you approach the text from different angles. You pick up something at the first reading, at the next reading something else and gradually you get an understanding of why the text exists and what its purpose is and finally how it can be useful for you in your work.
